With the issuing of the election writ today, B.C. voters will now decide on May 12 who is best to lead British Columbia forward through difficult economic times.
“In 28 days, British Columbians will go to the polls to vote in one of the most important elections ever in B.C. history,” said Premier Gordon Campbell. “Voters will decide who’s best able to manage our economy in these difficult economic times and generate new growth and new jobs that will keep B.C. strong.”
In this election, British Columbians will decide whether to re-elect a government that is leading B.C. forward, or whether they are prepared to let the NDP take the province back to the failed policies of the 1990s that made B.C. a “have not” province.
Over the past eight years, British Columbia has gone from the weakest economy in Canada to one of the strongest economies on the continent. Building on that strong foundation, the BC Liberal plan includes a $14-billion infrastructure program that will create up to 88,000 new jobs over the next three years.
“It’s a time to build on the strengths we have created over the last eight years and stick to the plan that has made us a leader in job creation and economic growth,” said Premier Campbell. “British Columbians know this election is critical to their future and that the progress we have made could all be lost in a heartbeat if they make the wrong choice on May 12. We have a proven team of candidates who know how to move B.C. forward and will build on the confidence and stability we have created over the past eight years.”
Premier Campbell will release the 2009 BC Liberal platform tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in Vancouver, at VanDusen Botanical Garden, 5251 Oak Street.
